The public environment department belongs to the technical administration. Our administration works to ensure that the municipality's traffic environment is safe and accessible, and that children, youth, and the elderly receive nutritious and good food in our school activities and special accommodations. We are responsible for residents' access to clean and fresh water from the tap. We manage the collection of household waste and waste facilities, cleaning for our administrative premises, contract and rental management, as well as services. We also oversee recreational facilities, parks, and playgrounds. Nearly 200 employees work in the administration with a focus on strategy, sustainability, collegial learning, and collaboration across boundaries - with the best interests of businesses and residents in mind!

Within the public environment department, there are units for planning, operations/street/park, and operations/property/recreation. We are responsible for the maintenance of the external environment, public land, municipal streets and roads, industrial tracks, properties and buildings, parks, forests, recreational facilities, swimming areas, and exercise tracks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the head of the department, you will have overall responsibility for the operations with budget, work environment, and personnel responsibility. You will have three subordinate unit managers, and the department has a total of nearly 50 employees. You will be part of the administration's management team and report directly to the head of administration.
Your main responsibilities will include leading, driving, and developing the operations within the public environment area, both at an operational, tactical, and strategic level. An important part of this is to develop, plan, and prioritize the operations with high quality through, for example, effective working methods, methods, and routines. The role includes close collaboration with employees and stakeholders based on our residents' expectations. As the head of the department, you will create results through other leaders, ensure that subordinate managers have the conditions to drive the operational activities, and that the interaction between different units and between departments/operations works well. Considering a holistic perspective on the operations and the municipality is an important dimension of the role.
Other responsibilities include:
- business development and digitization
- environmental monitoring and analysis
- participating in political meetings
- promoting collaboration with other departments, administrations, and external partners
- contributing to Kristinehamn municipality continuing to be an attractive organization and employer, which is an important part of future competence supply.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome you who have relevant higher education in urban development or have other education/experience in the areas of the position. You also have documented managerial experience. Since language is our primary tool, we see that you can express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish, and that you have good computer skills. Travel is included in the position, so a B driver's license is a must.
We consider it a great advantage if you have previously:
- experience leading other managers with results and personnel responsibility
- been responsible for operational and investment budgets
- worked with crisis and staff work, media, contract law, or procurement
- worked within a politically governed organization
- experience in change management
- experience working with a clear customer and resident focus.

We expect you as a manager to create trust in the organization and contribute with inspiration, new ideas, and engage at different levels in the organization. You are collaborative and relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner, and you are driven by goal and result thinking in prioritization, planning, and action.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and are looking for someone who complements the current workgroup. During a possible interview, both formal competencies and personal qualities will be assessed.
